I met Alex Mistri back in the early 90's when we were both in Guayaquil, Ecuador as college students. He was pretty bright then, and from this article I can tell that he still is!

At this point in history, living in the United States and under the current administration it is crucial to understand the real role the US is playing in the Middle East. this article, and in particular Alex' quotes, puts more of the pieces in the puzzle. As a firm believer in democracy and a first-hand witness to social oppression in third world developing nations, I can see how a democratic Iraq is a threat to the status quo.

Keep up the good work!

Excellent and interesting piece.

Of course I'm not at all biased, being his step-mother, but that Alex Mistri does sounds very bright.

I would also like to thank you for the piece you did on Alex and Amy before they left for Iraq. It was a very thoughtful and caring send off and made an old girls day!

Sincerely,
June Watts-Mistri
